part time job with California Association of Museums Empty
PostSubject: part time job with California Association of Museums   part time job with California Association of Museums EmptyWed May 05, 2010 1:18 am

Hello All,
perhaps someone maybe interested in this job posting, application due Friday,
Betsy

Dear Friends at Museo Eduardo Carrillo,

Earlier this week we were awarded a very exciting Institute of Museum and Library Science (IMLS) grant for the implementation of Connecting to Collections in California. In partnership with the California Historical Society, California State Archives, California State Library, California State Parks, and California Library Association, the California Association of Museums (CAM) will undertake a statewide preservation information, education, and training project, the California Preservation Assistance Service (CPAS). CPAS will deliver the following services to the California heritage community: a 24/7 collection emergency hotline, plus e-mail and telephone reference; eight two-day workshops on institutional disaster preparedness and response; eight “disaster networking” workshops using scenario planning; four preservation project design workshops; a collections stewardship campaign targeted to trustees; and a project Web site. CPAS will be a test bed for an ongoing service, whose goal will be to develop a self-sustaining culture of preservation management in California heritage institutions.

This grant allows us to add one entry level position to our staff to assist with CAM programs, membership, general office duties, and special projects. Please share the attached job description for the CAM Program Assistant position with your colleagues and friends in the Santa Cruz area. We are reaching out to local museums and organizations because this job is ideal for a student or recent graduate and isn’t a job we expect prospects to relocate to Santa Cruz for.

Again, feel free to forward this to any interested colleagues, friends, students, or recent graduates. The deadline for submitting a resume and cover letter by fax (831/471-9381) or email to admin@calmuseums.org is Friday, May 7, 2010. Please do not send materials via mail. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Many thanks for your help!
Sarah
